Part of the “invasive plants” series, a field of Purple Loosestrife in full bloom, at the peak of the invasion, before the Loosestrife Beetle, Galerucella calmariensis was introduced to control it. In recent years, the beetle does better in some years than others, depending on the weather, but never have the fields been as pink as they were when I painted this from the window of the car, stoped along Branch Rd, east of North Augusta, Ontario.
